Blood Tests & Results

Please discuss this with the doctor to arrange appropriate blood tests at suitable times.

Blood tests are Monday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings.

Blood Tests & Results

For all blood tests carried out for you by the surgery, please phone for the result within 2 weeks.

Please phone between 12 and 12.30 noon.

If the doctor/nurse can’t speak with you at the time you phone, please leave a message and we will contact you back as soon as possible.

We can offer text-messaging contact for results with your written consent.

When your blood results are normal we will contact you by phone or text-message to inform you.

When your results are abnormal we will contact you by phone or text-message to inform you and to inform you to arrange an appointment with the nurse or doctor as appropriate.

In all cases if you do not hear from us please phone us for your result.

Under 6 DVC Scheme

All children Under 6 years old are entitled to apply for free GP care.

Under 6 DVC Scheme

Medical Card Holders

If your child, or children, already have a Medical Card or GP Visit Card. they will automatically be registered for this new scheme.

Non-Medical Card Holders
If your child, or children, does not have a Medical Card or GP Visit Card you must register them for this new scheme.

Visit www.gpvisitcard.ie to register.

To register you will need,
– Your Child or Children’s PPS number
– Your PPS number and contact details
– Select Dr. Karen McGrath as your GP of choice

Your child’s PPSN:
When you register your child’s birth, the Department of Social Protection writes to you with their PPS Number. If you do not have a PPS number for your child please contact the Client Identity Services, Department of Social Protection, Lo Call 1890 927 999 or email cis@welfare.ie

Once the registration of your child or children is complete a GP Visit Card for children under 6, will be posted, to the address provided, for each eligible child.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to come for a consultation at the surgery to review these regular medications.

Medication Reviews

You will require regular review of long-term prescriptions.
The surgery can inform you when these are due.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Sick Certs & Forms

Patients requiring a sick note for work or an education institution must attend the doctor’s surgery in person and be seen by the doctor who can then certify them.

Sick Certs & Forms

Where a person is absent from work for 6 days or more, the doctor can provide a social welfare sickness certificate for a Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection (DEASP) payment.

We will email the DEASP a MED1 form for you; you need to return to the DEASP a IB1 form, which is available from reception.

For MED1 forms we will need your PPS number and dates of sick leave. Please contact reception 24 hours before your social welfare certificate is due.

Fees for letters and forms, requested by patients, are charged depending on the contents and work involved.

Reports requested, and paid directly by insurance companies and/or solicitors, are dealt with within 5 working days of the information being requested.

You can order a repeat prescription in person, by phone, by post, by email or by fax- find details here. Please call our Reception.

Repeat Prescriptions

We can email your nominated pharmacy your repeat prescription.
Just let us know their name & address.

Please allow 2 working-days for your repeat prescription to be prepared.

We would appreciate if you could list all medications required.

If you want us to post it back to you, please provide a S.A.E.

If a 3rd party is collecting a script on your behalf, please let us know in advance.

You may fill in a request form click here to download one.

Your pharmacist may be able help you in requesting a repeat prescription also.

Home Visits

Due to the workload at the doctor’s surgery, we reserve house calls for those who are housebound, including the terminally ill, the very elderly or those too seriously sick to travel.

Home Visits

We will not routinely do house calls unless discussed and agreed with the doctor, as most problems are best dealt with in the surgery.

We ask you call the surgery early in the day, before 11am, to discuss a house-call.

For doctor house calls after 18:00, please contact D-Doc Emergency Service 1850 22 44 77.

Mental Health Care

It is estimated 1 in 4 or 5 of us will experience mental health problems.
Some common mental health problems people may suffer include, stress, anxiety & panic attacks, depression, drug & alcohol problems.
GP’s are frequently the first people patients will approach in relation to mental health concerns.

We are happy to provide a confidential and safe place for patients to talk. We can advise on help and treatments available. We can help patients access supports such as psychology, counselling and psychiatric services.
